INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE (5TH) ON THE PHYSICS OF ELECTRONIC AND ATOMIC COLLISIONS, LENINGRAD, USSR, JULY 17-23, 1967.

Abstract

This report describes the proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on the Physics of Electronic and Atomic Collisions that was held in the historic Taurida Palace (Tavnichesky Dvorets) of Leningrad, USSR, from 17 to 23 July, 1967. The Conference, organized by the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute under the sponsorship of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, was attended by more than 650 delegates representing 26 nations, who listened to a total of 326 papers distributed over five plenary sessions and 15 double parallel sessions. This report gives a brief description of the setting for the Conference, followed by an analysis of the nations represented and of the research institutions that contributed. The report concludes with a partial appraisal of the scientific contributions offered at Leningrad as based on the study and analysis of the 82 contributed papers on electron collision theory. The appendix contains an abstract of the Conference Program. (Author)
