CHINESE-ENGLISH MACHINE TRANSLATION.

Abstract

The report describes results of continuing effort in Chinese-English machine translation R and D. An experimental translation routine has been developed which accepts Chinese sentences with their syntactic descriptions and produces English translations (without inflections) on experimental basis. The routine consists of an interlingual mapping phase and an English generation phase. The report contains flowcharts of translation routine; listing of translation routine in SNOBOL; dictionary entries and interlingual transfer rules for testing three sentences, and experimental translation of three test sentences.
