Abstract

In beryllium-phosphorus chemistry, (Be(OPR2O)2)x polymers were prepared, where R = CH3, n-C4H9, n-C5H11, n-C7H15, C6H5, or C6F5; R2 = (CH2)4 or CH3 and C6H5. The thermal characteristics of these polymers were studied by DTAs and TGAs. The dimer (CH3COCHCOCH3BeOP(C6H5)(CB10H10CCH3)0)2 was also prepared. In boron chemistry, Be and Zn acetylacetonates were treated with o-carborane carboxylic acids and bis-hydroxymethyl-o-carborane, and Be acetylacetonate was treated with decarborane complexes. Several attempts were made to substitute a Be for a B atom in the C2B10H10 cage of o-CH3CCHB10H10. (Author)
