A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR DENSITY, PRESSURE, AND MACH NUMBER AS FUNCTIONS OF ALTITUDE.

Abstract

This report contains empirical formulae for the computation of atmospheric density, atmospheric pressure, and mach number as functions of altitude. These formulae were obtained by fitting curves to the data given in U.S. Standard Atmospheres. Tabulation of computed values of density, pressure, and mach number and the error between these computed values and the corresponding values listed in U.S. Standard Atmospheres are given for altitudes ranging from 0 to 70,000 feet.
