EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF HYPERSONIC FLOWS (BADANIA EKSPERYMENTALNE PRZEPLYWOW HIPERSONICZNYCH).

Abstract

This review paper briefly discusses the general requirements which have to be met when testing the aerodynamic behavior of models at hypersonic speeds, and also the main parameters measured. An attempt is made to classify hypersonic wind tunnels according to the duration of testing (long-term or shock-type testing). Characteristic parameters of 13 hypersonic wind channels of the closed-circuit and open-circuit types are given in a table. The following hypersonic wind channels of long duration are described: closed-circuit and open-circuit wind channels, and plasma channels. Some basic parameters of plasma channels are tabulated.
