A PERIODIC REPARABLE-ITEM INVENTORY MODEL.
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to structure a periodic review model for a reparable item system experiencing normally distributed random demand. The items are issued upon demand, repaired (if possible) after use or failure, and subsequently reissued. The model addresses the requirement of system replenishment as items are lost or determined to be beyond economical repair. The inventory of ready-for-issue items is treated as two separate inventories, i.e., an inventory of those items received directly from the manufacturer and an inventory of those items received from the repair facility. Annual system cost expressions are developed as a function of the desired protection level and length of review period. (Author)
