THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LEAD GRILLS IN DECREASING GAMMA RADIATION STREAMING THROUGH A TWO-LEGGED DUCT.
Abstract
Dosimeter measurements were taken in a 3-foot square, two-legged duct, with and without the presence of lead grills in the corner. The lead grills reduce the dose rate in the second leg to 50 percent the value without grills for Co-60 radiation, and to 40 percent for Cs-137 radiation. Calculations of the reduction by a computer code using the albedo concept agree well with the experiment. (Author)
