MANUFACTURING METHODS PROCESSES AND DEVELOPMENT FOR CESIUM BEAM FREQUENCY STANDARDS.

Abstract

Cesium beam frequency standards suitable for airborne or ship-based use have been developed and manufactured. The standards developed, differing primarily in packaging, have short term stability better than plus or minus 5 x 10 to the -11th power (one second average), long term stability better than plus or minus 4 x 10 to the -12th power (1000 second average), environmental stability plus or minus 5 x 10 to the -12th power over the temperature range of 0C to +50C, 3000 hours MTBF for the electronic system, 10,000 hours MTBF for the cesium beam resonator, and less than 30 minutes warm-up time at 0C. The accuracy is plus or minus 2 x 10 to the -11th power. (Author)
