FILAMENTS, FIBERS, AND METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES,

Abstract

New filaments, fibers, and fiber crystal types are described, characterized morphologically and defined with respect to terminology. The methods for elasticity modulus and strength measurements and the results obtained are compared with each other and against better known types. Their metallurgical compatibility with matrix metals and results of mechanical strength measurements are discussed. Finally, the characteristic fracture behavior is shown and the still existing problems are discussed with consideration of their specific application in various areas. (Author, modified-PL).
