GLASS FIBER SILANE TREATMENT FROM NONAQUEOUS SOLVENT,

Abstract

NOL-24 finish, a chlorosilane, was successfully applied to 'E' glass fabric from a halocarbon solvent, which is nonflammable. nontoxic and commercially available. A number of parameters pertinent to a practical commercial batch process was investigated. Contrary to expectations, it was found that relative humidity environments from 50 to 89% for the cloth prior to the silane treatment had little effect on the finish in terms of laminate strength properties.
