TENSILE AND SHEAR STRENGTHS OF SEVERAL REINFORCED PLASTICS UNDERGOING RAPID HEATING,

Abstract

Strength tests were made on composite, nonmetallic, structural materials under constant load while being rapidly heated dielectrically. MS-9548, 48-RPD, 150-RPD, and FM-5015E nylon-phenolic specimens were tensile tested; other nylon-phenolic specimens were shear tested. In addition, shear tests were made on specimens of 41-RPD asbestos-phenolic laminate, made available from an earlier phase of the program. Comparisons between tensile and shear test results were made for the nylon-phenolic and for the 41-RPD asbestos-phenolic laminates. (Author)
