DEVELOPMENT OF PERFORMANCE CRITERIA FOR THE DESIGN OF A LARGE TEST MACHINE TO SIMULATE NUCLEAR BLAST-INDUCED MOTIONS,

Abstract

The principal objective of this study was to formulate detailed performance criteria for the development of concepts for a shock testing machine of sufficient capacity to accommodate the fully-loaded shock-isolated systems incorporated in the WS133A, WS133B and advanced weapon system facilities, and of sufficient force and power to generate input motions similar to those predicted to occur at the facility sites when exposed to nuclear threats of design strength.
