THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF COMMUNICATION NETS USING RELIABILITY FUNCTIONS.

Abstract

Topological methods may be employed in an effective manner in the analysis and design of a communication net. One application is in the determination of the reliability of the net with respect to both complete communication and k-terminal communication. The effect on this reliability caused by the removal of one link is studied. The k-terminal reliability function is defined and its application to analysis and design of communication nets is demonstrated. A digital computer program is presented, and examples of its use are included. A formula is given to find the value of the 2-terminal function. (Author)
