HIGH TEMPERATURE STATIC SUSCEPTIBILITIES OF MNF2,

Abstract

Using well established low temperature values of exchange constants and anisotropy fields for MnF2, the Neel temperature was calculated in a two spin cluster-variation approximation. The numerical value obtained is in much better agreement with the experimental value than that predicted by molecular field calculation. The high temperature susceptibilities were calculated in the same approximation using an effective single ion anisotropy energy. It is shown that the experimental high temperature behavior cannot be due to such a form of anisotropy. (Author)
