3,000-GPH SEAWATER DISTILLATION UNIT.

Abstract

The report discusses the development of a 3,000-gallon-per-hour distillation unit that will produce potable water from saline or inland brackish waters. The proposed unit will be completely self-contained, approximately 40 feet long, and mounted on a standard low-bed semitrailer. In addition to treating seawater and brackish waters high in calcium sulfate, the unit will remove chemical, biological, and radiological contaminants from water. The unit is being designed to operate for days or months, as required, with an effective operational life of 10 years. (Author)
