APCSE SECOND YEAR PROGRAM. TYPE II STATUS REPORT. VOLUME I.

Abstract

The Advanced Power Conversion Skid Experiment (APCSE) is a program to demonstrate the production of 300 KW electrical power from a compact, closed Brayton cycle power conversion system. This report describes the second year of activity under this program. Final CSN-2 turbine-compressor set testing was accomplished; the CSN-2 was subsequently disassembled, inspected and modified to the CSN-2A configuration. System testing of the APCSE with the CSN-2A and later with the CSN-1A(M) turbine-compressor sets were completed wherein 300 KW electrical power levels were marginally demonstrated. Design and drawings were completed for packaging the APCSE electrical equipment and lubrication system onto the power conversion skid and design activity was initiated to enclose the compact APCSE skid.
