ELECTRON IONIZATION CROSS SECTIONS.

Abstract

Studies on the cross section of lead were continued, as were calibration experiments on the electron gun and ionization chamber. The electron beam defining aperture was replaced with one of smaller diameter to improve beam collumation. New feedback stabilization circuitry has been installed and tested. A new cross section measuring technique, the exponential depletion method, was further developed, and a description is given. Preparatory to undertaking cross section measurements for carbon, a literature search was made. (Author)
