ELECTROREFLECTANCE STUDY OF CDS AND ZNO SINGLE CRYSTALS.

Abstract

Fundamental edge electroreflectance spectra of cadmium sulfide (CdS) and zinc oxide (ZnO) single crystals were measured at room temperature using the electrolyte technique. Measurements were made with the electric vector of the incident light both parallel and perpendicular to the hexagonal axis of the crystals. The spectra were interpreted in terms of the energy band structure for direct transitions at the center of the Brillouin zone for the wurtzite structures. A Kramers-Kronig analysis was used to obtain the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant for CdS from the electroreflectance data and the refractive index of the material. (Author)
