A SURVEY OF DATA COMPRESSION TECHNIQUES,

Abstract

The history and present status (1967) of data compression techniques are reviewed. Various techniques are described and methods of analysis for comparison purposes are also presented. Current problem areas are explained with suggested solutions in some instances. Future problems for research along with possible methods of attack are also given. An extensive bibliography is included. (Author)
