THE METHOD OF CHARACTERISTICS FOR ROUTINE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER CALCULATION.

Abstract

A high speed electronic computer program has been designed for routine calculation of supersonic flow about bodies of revolution by the method of characteristics and is presented herein. The equations to be solved numerically for plane and axial symmetric flow problems with or without rotation are given. The computer logic and address system necessary for general bodies are included. The body of revolution problem is used to illustrate the procedure which can be used for nozzles, jets, airfoils and inlets. (Author)
