COHERENT SCATTERING BY ELECTRONS AND NUCLEI.

Abstract

This report describes the mathematical formalism associated with the coherent scattering of electromagnetic radiation by electrons (Rayleigh) and nuclei (Mossbauer). Both classical and quantum mechanical treatments are given, with emphasis on the latter. The development forms the basis for discussions of interference effects between electronic and nuclear scattering. (Author)
