RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MICROWAVE TUBES AND DEVICES.

Abstract

Topics included are: Computer experiments on beam generated plasmas--Portions of the one dimensional electron diode computer program have been tested and a subprogram is being developed; Electron beam interactions with semiconductors--A means for measuring the velocity field characteristic of GaAs has been devised; studies on negative differential mobility are continuing; Amplification in acoustic transducers--Experiments with thin films of zinc oxide as the active medium have been conducted. Many characteristics of the interaction gain phenomenon of an applied dc voltage on an electroacoustic transducer were measured. (Author)
