LITHIUM-NICKEL FLUORIDE SECONDARY BATTERY INVESTIGATION.

Abstract

The surface areas of 18 positive electrodes have been determined. Experimental data for pore size distribution have also been obtained, but due to the involved and time consuming procedure necessary to calculate the pore size distribution, they are not complete yet. Steps are under way to obtain a computer program to process the existing experimental data for pore size distribution. Seven samples of NiF2 were studied. Their X-ray diffraction patterns were determined along with potentiometric sweeps and it was found that the electrodes containing amorphous or quasi-amorphous NiF2 gave better electrochemical performance. A new binder system for positive electrodes has been investigated consisting of BPA Epoxy and an experimental hardner. (Author)
