SOLUTION TO THE HEAT CONDUCTION EQUATION WITH VARIABLE THERMAL PROPERTIES AND MELTING AT THE SURFACE,

Abstract

The one dimensional heat conduction equation with melting at the heated surface is transformed to a form suitable for simulation on the analog computer. The properties of the conducting medium are considered as arbitrary functions of temperature, and the material at the surface is assumed to be instantly removed upon melting. The analog computer circuit is presented in figure 4, and some results are shown in figures 2 and 3. (Author)
