EQUIPMENT POD AND SILICONE SANDWICH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM-PHASE I,

Abstract

Equipment was designed and built to simulate the 'C' missile aerodynamic heat cycle. Several samples of honeycomb sandwich material were subjected to this heat cycle. Deflections and temperatures of the samples were recorded while under heat. As a result of these tests, a light weight material for missile equipment pod covers was selected by the test requestor. The vendors have been instructed in this method of heat test and are using the same general method to control their manufacturing process and to test development samples. (Author)
