DISLOCATION INTERACTIONS IN RELATION TO MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF METALS AND ALLOYS.

Abstract

The surface, grain boundary, and twin boundary energies of cobalt were determined from tests at 1354C in pure hydrogen, the values being 1970, 650 and 12.7 ergs/sq. cm, respectively. A value of 0.0000275 sq. cm/sec was found for the surface diffusion coefficient under the same conditions. (Author)
