CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY OF THE DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF SOME PLASTIC MATERIALS MANUFACTURED FROM INDIGENOUS RAW MATERIALS,

Abstract

A study was made of the dielectric properties of the following plastic materials: polyvinyl chloride, aminoplasts based on urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde resins, and polystyrene. Measurements were made of the variation of dielectric constant and the tangent of the loss angle tan, as a function of temperature, under conditions of heating in the range between 20C and 160C and frequencies from 1000 kHz to 8600 kHz; efforts were made to find a limiting operating temperature for various plastic materials studied.
