ELECTRONICALLY TUNABLE DIODE OSCILLATOR.

Abstract

The report describes the investigation of the use of single-crystal and polycrystalline yttrium iron garnet to magnetically tune the frequency of an avalanche transit-time oscillator at X-band. It was determined that maximum electronic tuning could be obtained using a polycrystalline YIG toroid to tune a radial-mode cavity oscillator. Electronic tuning ranges approaching 2500 MHz to the 10 mW cw output power level were achieved using a silicon p-n junction diode. The maximum midband output power was approximately 100 mW. (Author)
