LABORATOIRE DE RECHERCHES SUR LA PHYSIQUE DES PLASMAS, FINANCE PAR LE FONDS NATIONAL SUISSE DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE, LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND.

Abstract

This report describes a visit to the Laboratoire de Recherches sur la Physique des Plasmas in Lausanne, Switzerland. This Laboratory, which was established in 1962 under the scientific and administrative direction of Drs. E. S. Weibel and R. Keller, is mainly concerned with the study of the confinement and heating of a plasma column by means of radio frequency rotating magnetic fields of very high power level. The experimental results described attest to the fact that the confinement and stabilization of a plasma column by this method has been successfully achieved at Lausanne. (Author)
