AN ANALYSIS OF THE SCALE MODEL INTERMEDIATE BULKHEAD TESTS,

Abstract

This report was prepared to document the results of a small scale model intermediate bulkhead test conducted at the Point Loma facility. The tests were initiated to determine if freezing of the fuel or excessive vigorous boiling of the liquid nitrogen would occur when the two were brought in contact with an intermediate bulkhead, and to measure the heat transfer across an insulated and an uninsulated bulkhead. It was expected that such information would provide an experimental basis for determining the feasibility of removing the intermediate bulkhead insulation on the 'C' and 'D' series missiles.
