TURBULENT MIXING AND COMBUSTION OF A ROCKET EXHAUST JET WITH THE SURROUNDING ATMOSPHERE. PART I. THE BALANCED JET,

Abstract

The flow field for a free jet, burning with the surrounding atmosphere, was calculated. The calculations were carried out for two different cases. In the first case, a rocket engine whose exit pressure is balanced with the ambient pressure of the standard atmosphere of 15,500 ft. is considered. In the second, a rocket engine whose exit pressure is balanced with the ambient pressure of the standard atmosphere at an altitude of 50,000 ft. is considered. (Author)
