LIQUID OXYGEN TANK PRESSURIZATION 'B' CONFIGURATION,

Abstract

This report covers the operation of the 'B' Series airborne liquid oxygen tank pressurization system during certain simulated 'B' Series applications. Because of the inter-relationship between the liquid oxygen and fuel tank pressurization systems, both systems were tested simultaneously. The objectives of this test were: (1) To evaluate the transfer conditions in the liquid oxygen airborne pressurization system during a simulated booster separation in which a transition is made from the booster helium supply to the sustainer helium supply. (2) To evaluate the performance of the system during simulated sustainer operation. The results of this test indicate that no adverse effects were created in the liquid oxygen airborne pressurization system during the simulated booster separation and that the system performed satisfactorily during a simulated sustainer operation.
