EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF SKIN STRESSES IN A THIN WALLED PRESSURE VESSEL SUBJECTED TO CONCENTRATED RADIAL LOADS,

Abstract

Tests were made to evaluate 'Goldbergs Theory' by: (1) Application of concentrated loads on the cylindrical section of a pressure vessel in a radial direction that would result in both tension and compression; (2) Measurement of the resultant stress levels in the hoop and longitudinal directions.
