PARTIAL PRESSURE ANALYSES OF THE FINAL PRESSURE OF HIGH-VACUUM PUMPS (MEASURED WITH AN OMEGATRON),

Abstract

The final pressure of vacuum pumps, measured with ordinary vacuum gages, is a measure of the quality of pumps and indicates the possibilities of their application. However, knowing the total pressure or the sum of the partial pressures of permanent gases which are measurable after freezing with liquid air, is not always sufficient. Also the gases and vapors as well as their vapor pressures should be known. The purpose of this paper is an attempt to fill this need by reviewing the composition of the final pressure of different high-vacuum pumps. (Author)
