CONTROL-DISPLAY RELATIONSHIPS IN MANNED CONTROL LOOPS,

Abstract

The report describes the results of tests conducted to determine optimal control-display relationships in a generalized tracking task. The report contains a description of the experimental conditions, procedures and results of the experiment. Conclusions are drawn about the preferred type of display, control-display displacement function, temporal lag between operator input and feedback, and target display velocities. The conclusions are applicable to piloting and radar tracking operations. (Author)
