ON THE FLOW FIELD BENEATH A MOVING PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION OVER THE SEA.

Abstract

The theory was derived for the flow field beneath a uniform rectangular pressure distribution moving with constant velocity over calm sea of infinite depth. A numerical scheme for computing the near field disturbance such as vertical and lateral free surface displacements and displacements of streamlines at a small depth under the mean free surface is formulated. The numerical results for typical Froude numbers and beam/length ratio are presented. The results of the present study may be used to design a CAB vehicle. (Author)
