PRELIMINARY OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR RANGE SAFETY BEACON CHECKOUT EQUIPMENT,

Abstract

The manual provides operating and maintenance instructions for the Range Safety Beacon Checkout Equipment, Series B. The equipment is used to obtain quantitative data on the operation of the range safety beacon system after installation in the equipment pod on the missile. The equipment consists of a checkout cabinet, two antenna couplers, and the necessary cabling. The checkout cabinet (figure (1) contains a test generator, encoder assembly, wattmeter/wavemeter assembly, and rack power control and cooling assembly. By use of this equipment the operator may determine the following major parameters: (1) beacon system receiving frequency; (2) beacon system receiving sensitivity; (3) beacon system transmitting power output; (4) beacon system transmitting frequency. In addition, data such as receiver bandwidth, pulse characteristics, delay, and antenna attention may be determined when required.
