MOBILE ION-EXCHANGE UNIT.

Abstract

The report describes the development and operational characteristics of the mobile ion-exchange water demineralizing unit. Designed primarily to remove dissolved radioactive solids from water that has been clarified by standard mobile water purification equipment, the unit will be used secondarily to reduce the mineral content of brackish water for drinking purposes. In removing dissolved radionuclides and other deleterious soluble substances from water, this equipment will be used in series operation with either the 600-, 1,500-, or 3,000- gph standard water purification Erdlator. The ion-exchange unit is assembled in an insulated and heated van-type body, mounted on an M45 2 1/2-ton 6x6 truck chassis. (Author)
