ASTRONAUTICS PRE-PRODUCTION TEST REPORT FOR PRESSURE REGULATOR, PNEUMATIC, SECOND STAGE APS BACKUP DWG. NO. 7-08385-1,

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to describe the test equipment and procedures required for the Pre-Production Testing of components in accordance with the individual component specification. During the pre-production test program, the performance characteristics of the reworked second stage pneumatic pressure regulator of the vernier solo system were adequate except that during all operating cycle tests, Temperature - Altitude - Hmidity excepted, specimen flow was excessive for hydraulic control pressures of 3000-3100 psig. The corresponding 'flow cutoffs' occurred at hydraulic control pressures of 3300 psig or greater. However, during the low temperature one millimeter altitude test, the high temperature test, and the high temperature altitude test, specimen 'flow cutoff' occurred at a hydraulic control pressure of 3100 psig. Hydraulic control pressures of 3200-3300 psig, rather than the required pressure of 3000-3100 psig, were needed to regulate specimen outlet pressure. (Author)
