CONTAINER FOR AIR-GROUND PICKUP OF CASUALTIES.

Abstract

The report describes an aluminum container and its associated equipment for the air-ground pickup of casualties. Intended for use in isolated areas lacking adequate medical facilities and transport vehicles, it can contain a human casualty 6 feet 6 inches in height and 2 feet wide, weighing 250 pounds. It is strong enough to withstand a 15-g hoist acceleration. Lift is by means of an aircraft, equipped with a skyhook anchor, locking on to a lift line suspended from a balloon filled with helium gas.
