YIELD AND BURST TEST OF ASTRONAUTICS SUSTAINER LINES-FUEL AND OXIDIZER 'AS WELDED CONDITION,'

Abstract

The sustainer fuel and oxidizer lines are presently made using K-monel with subsequent age hardening. The age hardening process can result in flaws and cracks that are difficult to repair. A possible solution is to use these lines in the 'as welded' condition, thus saving time and the cost of the age hardening as well as simplifying the task of repairing completed assemblies. The objective was to determine structural integerity (yield and burst) of the sustainer fuel and oxidizer lines in the 'as welded' condition. (Author)
