PREPARATION TECHNIQUES, CHARACTERIZATION TESTS, AND RESULTS USED IN THE SELECTION OF A MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR A HYDROPHOBIC-TREATED CS (CS2).

Abstract

This report describes the research conducted on the preparation and characterization of CS (o-chlorobenzalmalonitrile) powders that contain hydrophobic silica aerogel. The results of the different characterization tests performed by the various research groups are presented. Based on this screening program, three sample CS2 (CS containing hydrophobic treated Cab-o-sil) preparations, numbered 17, 26, and 28, were selected for further evaluation in simple tunnel systems. The denial potential demonstrated by these CS powder preparations will be compared with the results obtained with CS-alpha (wet ball mill process).
