FLUID STATE HIGH-INTENSITY SOUND GENERATION.

Abstract

Analytical and experimental studies were conducted on the feasibility of the fluidics technology in the area of high-intensity sound generation. The analytical work was aimed at development of the acoustic wave equation for a flowing generator with a radiator of varying cross-sectional area. A comparison of the characteristics of vortex and jet on jet devices was performed to select the type better suited for sound generation. The jet on jet type was selected and a breadboard generator was built and tested with an exponential horn with a cut-off frequency of 250 hertz. (Author)
