WIDE BAND FERRIMAGNETIC LIMITER STUDY.
Abstract
The report summarizes the work performed to investigate and study techniques applicable to obtaining wide band ferrimagnetic limiters. Two major areas of study were undertakne: (a) A refined theory of the octave band all pass with electronically tunable limiter ranges was formulated. This device, which was developed in an earlier study program, was capable of simultaneously passing an octave band spectrum while limiting an electronically tunable interval. Based on the theory developed, a procedure was generated for balancing the path lengths of the all pass-limiter combination. (b) The second area of study included the analysis of the quasi-classical equation of motion of the magnetization vector under the constraint of separable r-f and static demagnetizing tensors to determine if metallic walls, and their imaging effects, could cause shift in the coincidence region. Conclusions and recommendations based on the work done on this program and on a previous study program are included. (Author)
