NOTES ON THE GENERAL NON-LINEAR BEHAVIOR OF ELASTIC BODIES,

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to find a set of general differential equations which can be used to evaluate the elastic behavior of a membrane of varying thickness. The von Karman equations are not applicable under these circumstances because they are derived with the assumption of constant thickness. The procedure followed in this report is of a completely general kind for a general three dimensional problem. The equations prove to be fairly simple and of the same type as slightly modified von Karman's equations. (Author)
