ELECTRONICALLY TUNABLE ZNY FILTERS.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work done on electronically tunable ZnY filters. The design and construction of a single-resonator MnZnY filter in a Magic-T geometry are discussed. The tradeoffs involved in multi-resonator ZnY filters are derived, and curves specifying losses, bandwidths, ripples, and skirt selectivities are presented. Design procedures are given for broadband enhanced coupling schemes (which do not employ dielectrics) in waveguide. An account of the materials work done to date details chemical composition, crystal-growth techniques, and results achieved for a number of crucible runs on ZnY material. Design and performance of tuning magnets are also discussed. (Author)
