PROBLEMS RELATING TO AMIDO-DERIVATIVES OF METALS AND METALLOIDS. VOLUME I. INTERACTION OF AMIDO- AND HYDRIDO-METAL COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

The interaction of hydrido- and dimethylamido-metal compounds has been studied. Three distinct types of reactions have been found: (1) LMNMe2 + L'M'H to LM-M'L' + HNMe2; (2) Me3SnNMe2 + H-L'M'-Cl to L'M' + Me3SNCl.HNMe2; (3) Me3SnNMe2 + H-L'M'-Cl to Me3SnCl + H-L'M'NMe2. A wide variety of compounds were synthesized using the above reactions. Emphasis was placed on metal to transition-metal bonded compounds, transition-metal hydrides, and amido derivatives of the Group IV B elements. Metal-metal bond structures were determined mass spectrometrically. The species L'M' that are produced by equation 2 have demonstrated potentiality as catalysts. (Author)
