RAPID REPAIR OF BOMB-DAMAGED RUNWAYS. VOLUME II.

Abstract

The work covered in this volume (II) includes the design, fabrication and testing of equipment to dispense Fast-Fix at rates up to 1000 gpm, and the demonstration of the overall material-equipment-procedure combination at Eglin Air Force Base. The equipment developed to perform the dispensing function consisted of a jet-eductor mixing system supplied with metered Fast-Fix cements from a screw-feed solids hopper and with mixing water from a speed-controlled water pump. The mixing unit was trailer mounted, powered with V-12 diesel engines and incorporated in an all hydraulic drive system. Solids were continuously supplied at a rate of 12,000 pounds per minute by a series of dump trucks via an external solids feeder. Design, fabrication and developmental testing were conducted on an accelerated basis. (Author)
