SOLION SEISMOMETER ENVIRONMENTAL TESTS

Abstract

Environmental tests were performed on a set of solion seismographs with emphasis on determination of noise produced by voltage variations, temperature variations, and pressure change at the seismometers. The seismometers, developed and built by the Defense Research Laboratory of the University of Texas use solion pressure transducers and mercury inertial masses. A long-period and a short-period response characteristic is obtained from each single seismometer by means of separate sets of filters in each amplifier.
