DEVELOPMENT OF LINEARIZED EQUATIONS FOR A PNEUMATIC SERVO,

Abstract

The actual equations describing the behavior of a pneumatic servo valve and actuator are extremely nonlinear and therefore cannot be used with the standard techniques of linear servo analysis. In order to apply these standard techniques it is necessary to derive a linearized approximation to the actual equations. Such a linearized approximation has been presented by Shearer. The results of the work contained herein are essentially the same as those given by Shearer but are obtained by a different approach. It is felt that the approach used here is somewhat simpler. Another difference is that more attention is called to the assumptions that must be made to achieve the end result. (Author)
